Were you using TCP/IP or IPX to join the races?
If you were using TCP/IP, you probably had this sort of setting in your core.ini
file....
net_lan_client_send_every = 3 ; Client packet freq on LAN
net_lan_client_send_size = 84 ; Client packet size on LAN
net_lan_server_send_every = 3 ; Server packet freq on LAN
net_lan_server_send_size = 84 ; Server packet size on LAN
net_mdm_client_send_every = 3 ; Client packet freq on dialup
net_mdm_client_send_size = 84 ; Client packet size on dialup
net_mdm_server_send_every = 3 ; Server packet freq on
net_mdm_server_send_size = 84 ; Server packet size on dialup
See the "on LAN" section is set to 3/84 that is reduce packet throughput. You
could either put these "on LAN" values back to normal from the core.ini.sample
file or uncomment the following "net_use_mdm..." line in your core.ini.
; Uncomment the next line to make GPL use IPX bandwidth for TCP/IP.
;
; net_use_mdm_bandwidth_for_tcp_ip = 0 ; TCP/IP connections use modem
bandwidth?
That's what it sounds like to me. The seconds recommendation sounds easier to
do ^^^^.
