Saitek joystick GP3 and windows XP

I cant get the throttle working on my Saitek Cyborg joystick with windows XP
and GP3. It works fine with Windows ME.

The throttle works fine in all other games with XP but is not recognised by
GP3 2000.

I also had problems before with windows me and Directx8. I had to install
the joystick and game with DirectX7 and and then upgrade to 8 after the
joystick was working.

Maybe this is a Direct 8 issue?
Any ideas please?
