NASCAR bugs

I've noticed several bugs in all versions of NASCAR racing from
Papyrus.  First of all, if I leave braking help ON, I notice that
the brakes engage for no reason at the beginning of turn 1 in Atlanta.
If I turn the braking help off, it becomes really difficult to stop
in the pits.  I come in so hot, that apparently I'm immediately
penalized.  My pit crew doesn't service me; I just get that 1 second
pit stop that you get after a black flag.  No black flag was ever
shown!

The other bug happened at Talladega.  I had an accident coming
around the last corner before the start/finish line.  As several
people have mentioned, the computerized drivers are very good at
cutting people off.  Well, I got spun out and ended up slaming into
the inside wall just PAST the pits.  The program apparently thought
that I was just exiting the pits, and gave me a black flag for
exceeding maximum pit speed!!!

Also wouldn't it be nice if you could damage the pace car? (he, he)

What version of NASCAR are you running?  I had similar oddities with V1.0
and V1.1 but have not had the problems since I upgraded to V1.2 (and V1.21
which is the newest version...)

Scott,

I'm running version 1.2.  I've had the same problems in both
1.0 and 1.2.  When I read the description of 1.21, I saw that the
only changes from 1.2 were in modem play, so I didn't bother to
upgrade.

Is it ever possible to get a different pitting position?  I'm always dead
last.

nope, it's just the way it is.  Guess they figured no one would notice
it   :-)

Kirk,

According to the manual it is supposed to be random, but don't believe
it.  I had read a note posted in the Papyrus BBS that the manual is
simply "wrong" and that the pit position will always be last.  I can't
remember about what they said about future versions though.

Thanks for the answers.  I thought as much (player cars are always pitted
last).

That's too bad, I hop it is more random in future upgrades.

I have found that if there is an exceptionally long pit, it is easier to
back up a little bit, then proceed on your way after pitting. This way you
avoid the 55mph limit.

I would like the option of Real NASCAR rules or the Easy way.  That way you
could do it the way it is, or instead, go the true blue way and have to pick
your pit stall according to your qualifying spot.  We could just ignore the
part about champion picks first (dumb rule! - a real champion could deal with
a lousy pit choice)
