Touring Car Patch for N2 Troubles...

by John P. Wilso » Sat, 12 Sep 1998 04:00:00

Hi Guys!

I just installed N2 on my newly-upgraded system (complete with a Monster 3D
II), patched it from 1.1 to 1.3, and installed the 3DFX patch.  Then, I
downloaded the TPTCC patch from The Pits (version 2.01), and the cars (a
separate download - why?).  I double-clicked the patch, and get "The setup
files are corrupted.  Please obtain a new copy of the program."  The title
bar for the error only says "Error," as opposed to a description of the
program.  "Okay, no biggie," I say.  "Maybe it's looking for some N2 files
that aren't in the My Documents folder (where I downloaded it).  So I copied
the patch to the C:\SIERRA\NASCAR2 directory (yes, it is where I installed
the game), and...I get the same error.

Could anyone who has experience with TPTCC 2.01, or any version for that
matter, post a reply or email me?  I would really like to see the cars and
designs in hi-res and 3DFX with all textures, since before (with my 586) I
had lo-res and most textures off.

Thanks for any assistance anyone can give me!

John

There has been some problems with files downloaded from "The Pits"
lately, this only concerns .exe files and the TPTCC patch is an .exe
file if I`m not mistaken, I can`t check from here, it sounds as though
the file you downloaded is corrupted, try dowloading it again and see if
it helps, if it doesn`t let me know and I can e-mail you the damn thing
:-)

  Another note for John.

Make sure when you get a good copy of the dload, that the tptcc files are
installed in
C:\Sierra\Nascar2\tptcc
the tptcc install directory has to be under the Nascar2 dir.  (or whatever
folder folks have N2 installed
in.)   The reason for the separate dloads for the cars and the patch are
size.  The cars alone are a
pretty hefty dload for folks with slower modems.

Also I'd like to suggest to ANYONE downloading large files to get a
program that
takes care of the problems often associated with downloads, (incomplete
transfers, corrupted files etc>)
try GETRIGHT  is makes a world of difference in the sucess of your dloads.
later!
