MTM2 engine for future sims'?

by Brian Whitake » Tue, 05 Oct 1999 04:00:00

Perhaps somebody here has thought of a good reason, or two, why we
haven't seen any sims' using the Monster Truck Madness 2 physics
engine?

The trucks in Monster Truck Madness 2 could jump high in the air,
spin, fall over, etc. Reminds me of the GPL engine, when it comes to
crash effects at least.

Just a thought...

A good one too. I think CART Precision Racing was made on that engine, or was
that the original Monster Truck Madness, which is also very good IMHO. I
expected C:PR to be as good as MTM, but as everyone know it failed on the
finish line. I guess that to change monster trucks for champcars really didn't
work as they expected.

TRI should try to put out C:PR 2, but since they are not connected to MS
anymore I guess that wont happen.

I would certainly like to see more racing simulators use the MTM2
engine, especially for racing off-road, which is where Monster Truck
Madness 2 really comes into play.

Who actually follows the track routes in Monster Truck Madness 2?
Certainly not I.

The graphics engine for C:PR was based on the MTM2 or internally known as
Photex2 graphics engine. The physics engine for C:PR has nothing to do with
the MTM physics engine. Most people assumed they were one in the same
because the graphics engines were similar. Before I joined Terminal Reality
I almost thought so myself until I took a look at the source code.

I can't say right now what types of games we will do (off road, road racing,
etc), but you can be sure that we will continue to do all sorts of driving
games. We also keep our eyes on this newsgroup and always take note of your
feedback, and wishes in deciding on future games.

Not too much has happened lately so I haven't updated it. It is pretty much
dead but I leave it up so people can still download files, get information,
or use the forum.
