GPL keeps locking up on me. Hard lock most times I run it. I don't even have
to do anything. My system is as follows.

ABIT BH6

V550
Dual V2's 8 meg
SBLive

It did this with 1.0 but not as bad. I did a clean install after a defrag
and scan. Then I installed the patch. It has run 1 of 4 times. When it did
run, it performed an illegal op after 3 short races. Is anyone else having
this problem?? I am using the 3dfx version. I don't have problems running
anything else. I have all the latest drivers.

I get an illegal operation if i try to run a short race after
completing one at another track AND my res is higher
than 640x480. Otherwise 1.1 is great, just disable your
modem before playing offline :-)

Which drivers (sound, video, specifically) are you using?
'Latest' doesn't help.

What happens when you stop overclocking your CPU?

What happens when you stop overclocking your video cards?

What happens when you remove the cover from your overclocked system?

Do you have any network cards?

What is running in the background?

Do you do ctl-alt-del and cancel all
tasks except explorer prior to running GPL?

How much swapfile space do you have?

What version of DX is installed?

etc.

There is a bit more that needs to be known before someone can help.

I had similar probs when running on a PII300 o/c'd to 350. Games like GPL
will stress an overclocked CPU to the max and will lock at the first
opportunity. Try running the CPU at it's normal speed.

Try running the CPU at it's normal speed.

OK i turned down the video cards back to the default 92 and i am not
overclocking my machine

Where do i go to find the swap file size ??

I am still crashing like crazy. Finally got thru the joystick config. It
crashed right after tho. The next time I tried it it worked. But, it crashed
like 7 or 8 times before it ran. What's a good lap at Monza? My best was
1:33:08.

Right! Of course! OK, since installing 1.1, I'm still getting the odd "clock
smash" in single race mode, using:

64 Meg EDO RAM
Win98
450 Meg free on the D drive where gpl is installed, 200 meg free on C, Windows
controls swap file
Voodoo 1 w/ latest 3dfx reference drivers downloaded from 3dfx since the recent
release
ATI Graphics Pro Turbo PCI; built-in Win 98 drivers, the latest according to
ATI
D-Link 21041 PCI Ethernet adapter
Yamaha OPL-SAx sound card
Microsoft Sidewinder 3D pro controller
DX 6.1 - latest release from Microsoft site
nothing overclocked
