GT2000 and the real-life counterparts

Playing Gran Turismo 2 just now, I bought myself a shiny new sports
car, and it made me wonder if perhaps the future of games like GT2000
on the PSX2 will actually allow you to enter your credit card details
and buy the real-life counterparts online? The PSX2 does have internet
capability afterall, and there are lots of web sites which sells cars
these days. Why not implement it into a game? Each manufacturer could
they pay a percentage of what they earn through the game to the game
developer.

We'd be able to test drive our cars in the game, and have real-time
prices from the net.

What do you think?

I think you're on the right track -- some of the majors already have
"virtual tours" of their cars' interiors and exteriors, and I think
Buick or Olds once had a (crude) ride-around in one of their cars. Maybe
Cadillac will give us a lap of LeMans in their new WSC car. I think it
would be a great marketing tool to be able tp "drive" one of the cars
online, at least to the extent of seeing a realistic view of the***pit
and the road, the instrumentation (especially at night) -- maybe even
the sound system.

You ought to send your ideas to GM, Ford, Daimler-Chrysler, BMW,
Porsche, Toyota, Nissan, Subaru, Hyundai, etc. -- be interesting to hear
the response!
