Isn't it ironic that with the introduction of electronic driver aids in
Formula one that to have a "realistic" sim experience you have to turn on
traction help and auto-shift?

I don't see the irony.  Are you saying GPL isn't realistic because it
doesn't model modern F1 cars?  Or do you mean a *modern* sim experience?
Because if I want to drive GPL in a modern sim experience, I have to add
some horsepower, tire, wings, and more.  But you are right...the things
developers built into games to help out newbies, but slowed the car down are
now being used by the pros...to help them go faster...ironic, sure.

I don't think he is referring to GPL at all. I think he is saying that with
modern racing sims, we usually turn off the driver aids to make it more
realistic, but now real F1 cars are is using some of those aids.
Does this also mean I should drive modern F1 sims with automatic gear mode?
;P

Who mentioned anything about GPL????

And no, automatic shifting in a game isn't the same as the automatic clutch
in a F1 car.  It is the same as manual shifting with your computer steering
wheel which has an "automatic" clutch.

Um, I know this is confusing... but I actually think someone posted on RAS
without even thinking of GPL!

Gasp!
