N4 - Force Feedback Question

N4 - Force Feedback Question

by Larr » Tue, 13 Feb 2001 08:02:40

Is there any way to add more 'centering spring' in N4 ?

At some tracks, mainly Dega and Daytona, my return-to-center is
non-existent, and the wheel is extremely loose 30 degree's each side of
center going down the straits.  I need some more centering spring to dampen
things down.

The centering spring controls in the SideWinder software don't really work
at all when FF is enabled in N4.

TIA

try setting steering ratio to 15:1 works great

I'm experiencing the same problem as Larry with my MSFF wheel.  I
changed the centering force from 0% to 100%, but still the dead zone makes
driving with the MSFF wheel almost useless.

You did adjust the linear setting in the N4 options menu, right?  I had
the same problem with my LWFF until I changed the linear setting to 95%.

Man, that's WAY too sensitive for Dega or Daytona :)

Feels like you're driving one of those wheels tacked onto a Baby Car Seat,
doesn't it :)

I'm all the way to 100%.  It doesn't matter...

Try playing with the caster settings.

That seems to be the problem.  The only way to get decent feedback is to
tighten the steering ratio--until it is too twitchy to drive at the super
speedways.

Marc.

Been there, done that.

It's a FF issue of some sort.

Remove the stability cheat in the options (this helped me to get a bit of
feeling when turning on those banked corners!) This cheat is made for a
joystick, not a wheel.
Also lower the steering ratio in car setup. Also raise Linear to 90% in
wheel config.

I'm there, except for the ratio.  It gets too touchy down that low :)
