This is a common problem. If you are getting distorted sound, try lowering
the sound acceleration in dxdiag.

If you are getting crackling, try turning the volume down in Windows and up
on your speakers to compensate.

I had the same problem until I read about the 3509 SBlive drivers on the
Race Sim Central forums.

You can download the driver at

When I first installed them, the sound problem was just as bad.
Then I reinstalled them - without removing them first - no crackles, etc.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

Go into DXDiag click on the sound tab. There is a slider labeled "Hardware
Sound Acceleration Level" which will probably be set to Full Acceleration
(all the way to the right). Drop this slider down to Basic Acceleration
(second from the left). This should cure your problem, it certainly did for
me. You don't even need to reboot afterwards.

Hope this helps
