SoundBlaster Live! and N2...HELP!!!

by Michael Calabres » Wed, 21 Apr 1999 04:00:00

If anyone can help, my SoundBlaster Live! value does not work with N2. I
didn't think this would have been a problem since I am running N2 in
Windows 95, but I am having no luck. When I go to the Sound setup screen
for N2 the autodetect doesn't work and if I manually enter the
information it locks up when I click on test sound.

Thanks

Mike

Michael,
Try deleting your sound.cfg folder in N2. Then, run sound setup again. Click
on Autodetect. You should see your settings change. Once you have done this,
DO NOT try to test the sound. She'll lock up on you most likely. Just exit
the sound setup screen.
If this doesn't work, you probably have a conflict in your emulation. It
assigns the emulation a different irq than the sblive. That can be a little
tricker to rectify, conflicts in pci slots are not as easy to resolve as isa
in windows. You might try putting the sblive in a different pci slot if this
is the case.

Well, I just got my emulation working tonight with ICR2.  The funny
thing was that while I had to use the emulation device's resource settings
in the SET BLASTER autoexec line, I had to tell ICR2's sound setup to use
the PCI resource settings that sbeconfig reported.  Hope this was of some
help.

Try selecting the mono SB device instead of the detected device.
N99 will autodetect my Ensoniq Soundscape but the sound will
not work in the game (the intro is OK). If I select a SoundBlaster
Mono device (use the IRQ and other resources for the SB legacy
device in the device manager) then everything works great.
