Soundblaster LIVE!!! HELP!!!!!!!!

by Donny Nelm » Fri, 26 May 2000 04:00:00

Ok here is my problem I cannot get my Joystick to be detected in Control
Panel/Joysticks.   I have a Soundblaster Live X-gamer sound card . My
Joystick is a Microsoft Precsion Pro Joystick (Not USB). In control panel it
tells me that my joystick isnt connected and nothing i have done will detect
it.  I have downloaded the lated drivers from SB,Microsoft, and i have
Direct X 7.0a.
Port Driver is Standard  gameport and Poll Interuppted is Checked.
Everything i have read from Microsoft points to a gameport problem with the
Soundcard. Everything works great except Joystick.

Computer is a P3 677
128meg ram
ASUS PC3 2000 Motherboard
Soundblasterlive Xgamer soundcard
Voodoo 3 2000 video card

Does the gameport show ok under devices in device manager? Could be a
voltage issue with the gameport on the sound card. Some newer sound
cards use a non-standard voltage which can cause the problem you are
seeing. I used to have that problem with a Diamond soundcard. My way
to make sure I never had that problem again was to buy exclusively USB
digital game controllers.

Have a look in Microsoft's hardware newsgroup,

microsoft.public.mshardware.product

and you'll see that you're not the only one suffering from this with a
variety of Microsoft joysticks.  There's quite a few threads on this subject
there.
