For NR99, I don't think people will get that stirred up since it's just
N2 with a few changes. Sure, there will be a good number of posts, but
I'm willing to bet that there will be as many (if not more) complaints
about what NR99 is NOT, as there are praising the little changes that
were made (CTS fans notwithstanding).
>Does anybody else get tired of wading through the GPL posts to
Not really. I'm firmly convinced that open-wheel racing is NOT fun (to
watch or in which to participate), but I got GPL to see if my system
would be able to handle N2000. Not only will my system handle N2000, but
I've accepted GPL as just plain FUN to drive. N2 has been reduced to the
status of being a nice app for it's day, but GPL has raised the bar for
all racing sim manufacturers (even for Papyrus), and I won't buy another
sim that isn't at least as good as GPL.
I would highly recommend to anyone that has not bought GPL to do so,
especially if they plan on getting N2000 when it's released. You'll be
that much further ahead if you do because you'll be used to the physics
model by then, and you'll be able to assess your hardware upgrade
requirements in time.
A P2/300 or better, combined with a Voodoo2 card (unless they include
support for D3D in N2000) is recommended for high frame rates with a lot
of detail. Sierra was way off the mark with their minimum system
requiremenmts as printed on the GPL box.
