Hello, old news?  If you've been following this NG, you know that most of us
have been playing N99 and discussing this stuff for weeks.  We've moved on
to trouble-shooting and car setups now.

Hello!? Papy released an updated demo of GPL after releasing GPL.

Hello!? He was stating this for people that haven't already bought the
sim.

Hi,
Thanks for putting out a demo Papy!  I'am thinking about picking up
NR99 for myself for Christmas and at least now I get a chance to try the
trucks first.  The only problem is that next generation's site either is
VERY slow or VERY busy! (The last time I tried my expected download time
was over 6 hours at 0.5 KB a sec on a 56K modem!) Hopefully someone will
make the demo "non-exclusive" soon so I can download it from another
site!

Later,
John

Since I see you work for papy now, I feel obligated to ask if
papy intends to fix the joystick calibration for the DOS exe
in NR1999. I'm sure people with the new FF wheels (or anyone
looking to purchase one) would very much appreciate it. I
know I would.

Also, would someone mind explaining why the need for a DOS
exe when running multiplayer is not clearly labeled on the NR1999
box? The box says NR1999 is a Windows DirectX product with
multiplayer capability. There is no mention at all about a DOS
requirement until *AFTER* you install the game. So far papy
have been very quite about this deception. I guess I am not
surprised. I did buy the game and have fun with it, but I do
feel misled...

Obviously there are some new readers here not familiar with Mr. Busch. I
for one welcome any comments he might make to this newsgroup. Thanks Eric.

It's no more misleading than requiring twice the "recommended" hardware in
GPL if you actually want to race a field of cars (and have a decent length
replay) instead of just hot-lapping alone...

Marc.

While not spelled out in letters as large as the title, it IS printed on
the OUTSIDE of the box that multiplayer REQUIRES (I do believe that even the
box has this word in all caps) DOS executables.

The OUTSIDE of my box does not state the info you quoted. Please
tell me where it is on your box which you evidently do not have
because you said "------- believe -----".

Yes please tell :-) I think you cannot tell us where it is Don (besides I
was
asking Eric anyway), because it isn't freaking there. Duh.

I Just checked the box after posting that last message. It isn't listed
anywhere that I can see. Besides it *SHOULD* be in the requirement
section on the bottom of the box. We shouldn't be arguing about this
and be hunting around for the info anyway... So I wonder Don, if you are
some type of a-hole, or does your box really have it clearly labeled that
DOS is required for multiplayer. Mine sure doesn't and I have to wonder
why you would post such a ridiculous thing. Oh, and my sincere apologies
for calling you an a-hole if it really is clearly labeled on the box.

But it isn't :-)
