NASCAR-Win95-No Sound!

I'll go step by step to illustrate my problem.

1.  Open window\explorer
2.  Start Nascar
3.  Windows closes and starts Nascar
4.  Nascar is up and running but no sound.
5.  Exit Nascar, Windows starts over.
6.  Shut down Windows, reboot using boot disk.
7.  Start Nascar.
8.  Nascar starts, No sound.
9.  Exit Nascar.
10. Enter Nascar Setup.
11. Reconfigure sound card to same settings.  I don't change anything.
12. Test sound card.  Digital and Midi work fine.
13. Exit setup.
14. Start Nascar and the sound is fine.

Can anybody help?  This is driving me crazy and I can't figure out what to
do.

I've added the line c:\bin\diagnose /s to my autoexec to init the
sound card.  This is the soundblaster program, since it is a
soundblaster 16 card that I have.  You also need to check that the
BLASTER env variable has been set.  Of course if this is not a
soundblaster card then it may not apply.  My old soundblaster V2.0
did not need this, only my 16.
