act labs pedals/GPL question

act labs pedals/GPL question

by James Lars » Mon, 06 Mar 2000 04:00:00

I recently to an Act-Labs FF wheel, pedals, and shifter.  I am driving the
Cooper with Alison Hine's setup in GPL.  It just seems impossible to apply any
brakes at all without locking up.

Does anybody know if this can be corrected with the setup?  Or are the pedals
just to stiff, without any sensitivity?

But no matter how gently I apply brakes, it seems as if there are no brakes,
then suddenly there's smoke from the tires.

Thanks,

i use the exact same setup and have no problems, i found that if i
moved myself further away from the pedals, so my legs are slightly
slightly bent from being straight, it is easier to be less *** the
brakes.

just sitting at a table with your feet on the pedals (sewing machine
posture ) will make your feet like bricks on the brake and accelerator
pedals.

if you're not doing this, sheer practice will also help !

i've already  dropped my lap time to almost a 1.28 round monza with
this setup.

There are a couple fixes for the Act Labs pedals that I'll post soon. They
can be made smooth as silk. I had planned on having it done  today, but an
emergency with the Ferrari paddle shifters pushed it back a few days. I've
been using the modified Act Labs pedals for about 2 weeks now, and they have
become my pedals of choice. In the mean time you could try running with
brake assist in the GPL menu. I know its not the same, but it might get you
by for a few days. At least the brakes  won't lock up. As Rich suggested,
driving with the pedals farther away will also help.

Yep, and also try raising your pedals a little bit.
