N4 - No in-game save?

Just saw this over in the Roll Call at Gonegold.com

"Some feedback from our friend Greg Driskill tells us he found Nascar 4
to be disappointing. Words such as "George Jetson" and "Hovercraft" were
used as well as noticing there is no longer an in race save feature.
Greg reminded me that Nascar 2 had the same problem as far as the save
goes, but was later patched. I'm sure the same will eventually be true
for this version, but those looking for high realism may want to hold
off on spending those sheckles just yet."

What's so realistic about an in-game save?

It's realistic in the sense that we have to answer telephones, door-bells,
calls of nature, children's demands, etc. etc.
Real enough for you?

Nope.  You can always pause it.

Lol, contradiction of terms. He uses realism and saved game in the same
paragraph. Has he driven a real stock car do you know?

N4 - No in-game save?

Yeah, I'd comment that Dale Earnhardt Jr disagrees:

"Ive been asked many times how close these games come to real life. N4 is
all over it. My first wakeup call while playing the game was the effects
changes to the setup had on my car. Someone did there homework here. You
will experience much more body roll than in the past games of the Nascar
series. Something else we havent seen in the past is the real to life at
times aggrivating pull to the left caster setting. Yes, this is the way our
cars drive every week. It is caused by the frontend settings, mainly caster.
Closing the caster split will reduce this effect but tighten the car up on
entrance of the corner. Everything in the game seems to have been beefed up,
from the setup screen to the draft effects. With the two tracks in the demo,
we can see some that some gains have been made on realism and geometry."

Dale Jr, I've heard of. Greg Driskell I have not.

Because maybe he's being paid for his opinions? ;-)

We've already gone over this with Nascvar Heat. A savegame is a
desirable option for many of us. If you don't find it realistic then
don't use it! But, please make it an option at least.

Not the same I'm afraid.  While we're on the subject of realism, I think we
all get rather carried away. I mean what is realistic about sitting on a
chair in front of a PC in a comfortable room doing your 'racing'?
hmmm......

Isn't that what the pause button was invented for?

In game saves adds nothing to realism, surely it reduces it.

Agreed, but an in game save feature is a matter of convenience *not* of
realism.  A desirable option for many to be sure, but certainly not an
element of realism, as I said.

Ummm...whats so realistic about sitting in front of a monitor, in your
favorite chair, in air conditioned comfort, casually driving and
drinking a soda at the same time?
I vote for convenience.
