I really think the time for Papy to introduce a save-game feature has
come...
I mean - in the "old days" offline [league] racing was all we had.. but
now - I really dont see the point anymore. I really think the number of
offline leagues have dropped to a point where it would be smarter for Papy
to include a save-game (restart behind pace-car or whatever) and perhaps
some way of detecting a savegame in results or replay.
That way they'll satisfy the 1000's of gamers that cry out for a savegame vs
the 10's of simmers that still do offline leagues.

Makes you wonder when........and why they decided to change.
No biggie.

The difference is that in a 500 miler fuel and tire strategies are
very important, whereas running five 100 miler races they wouldn't
have as much effect on the race.
I complete agree with the posters who long for an in-race save
feature. I was a long-time fan of the series, starting with the
original DOS versions which if I remember correctly added the in-race
save in NASCAR 2. NASCAR 3 also had it. Then Papyrus brought the GPL
game engine to it's NASCAR series and dropped the in-race save in
NASCAR 4, which was released last year at this time. I was very
disappointed and it really turned me off the series. I was really
hoping that Papy would react to the many posts on Usenet and the
forums and add in-race saves in a patch, but no luck. The NR2002 demo
has a "Save" button on the race setup menu, but from what I can tell
this only saves your progress from qualifying, so we are still missing
what I think is a very vital feature.
