I just picked up this info from the Sierra Message boards on being able
to update ICR2 for use on a Rendition Board. If you picked up a
rendition card that didn't come bundled with the Rendition Ready ICR2
this is 'supposed' to let you update ICR2 and get the 'rendition' frame
rate benefit. You won't get the enhanced tracks though... :o(

You can't buy the program. You can try this though.
These instructions will allow you to update the standard
version of
IndyCar Racing 2 to the Rendition version. Sierra never
intended to
release an update from the Standard version to the Rendition
version
of IndyCar 2, however enough people have requested one, that
we
wanted to do something for them. The Rendition version of
IndyCar
Racing 2 is already bundled with all but one of the Rendition
video
cards on the market. So currently, only users with the
Creative Labs'
3D Blaster should need these instructions.
Please note that these instructions will not completely
update the
game. You will obtain faster frame rates from the Speedy3D
graphics
engine, but you will not have the enhanced tracks found on
the
standard Rendition version of the game.
Follow these instructions (assuming that you already have
your
standard version of ICR2 installed):
1. Obtain the patch ICR2REND.EXE (downloadable from Sierra's
webpage http://www.racesimcentral.net/).
2. Uncompress the file.
3. Copy the INDYCAR.EXE file from the patch to the IndyCar
Racing 2 directory and overwrite the existing file.
4. Finally, you must copy the file SPD3D.UC (which is
required by all
Rendition games) from the directory of one of your other DOS
based
Rendition games (i.e. Quake) to the IndyCar Racing 2
directory. The
exact SPD3D.UC file that the Rendition version of ICR2 uses
is dated
9/10/96 although other versions should also work.
5. Switch to your IndyCar Racing II directory (for example
CD\ICR2
Enter) and type INDYCAR Enter to start the game.
NOTE: This version of the game will default to the DMA
version. To
play this version your motherboard MUST support PCI standard
version 2.1. To use the non-DMA version you must start the
game
with this switch:
INDYCAR -grn1f
If you have problems with both versions of the game then your
computer may not be compatible with this version of the game.
To
restore the old version of IndyCar Racing 2 just recopy the
INDYCAR.EXE file from your original game CD back to the
IndyCar Racing 2 directory.
This version of the game is NOT supported by Sierra On-Line
Technical Support or Sierra On-Line, Inc.
