Nascar framerates on 486

SD>Okay, okay, what's all this talk about full detail in VGA mode
SD>running Nascar on a 486DX2/66??? :-)  Is my machine that much of a
SD>sloth???  I have a DX2/66 with 8Meg of Ram, Cirrus Logic 54xx with
SD>1Meg, 128K internal cache.  I run Nascar with car detail,
SD>paint/skids, smoke/dirt, and Horizon on only.  This is the only
SD>config for my machine to run Nascar "SMOOTH AS SILK".  If I turn
SD>anything else on, then when I'm up close and personal drafting I get
serious Chop!  Help me find the perfect set up please!

You got it about right with what you're running.  It does help to turn
down the cars ahead/behind both seen and heard. It also helps a little
to run the mono sound mode instead of stereo (the sound is mono anyway).
Another suggestion is to set min frame rate at about 15 and MAX (meaning
when the dropped out auto detail comes back) to around 18 fps.

Personally, I'd forget all about running SVGA and stick with VGA
(320x200).
