I have a 486DX4/100 with 8 megs.  IndyCar racing runs fine but I was
wondering about Nascar.  I realize that SVGA is definitely out of the
question but how do things look in VGA?  Will I be able to use all of the
tracks with a full line-up of cars in each?

Why dont you just remove some cars? I had a similar problem
and found that it was better to remove a few cars rather than
going down to vga or turn some details off. Though, if you
still want to have a full field, there is no problem with the
vga version, and it should run just fine. A good way to speed
it up is also to make a separate config.sys and autoexec.bat
WITHOUT himem.sys. You wont be able to loadhigh anything but
you will get ALL your memory allocated to XMS, and this way
you might gain 1.5 mb. Keep your mouse driver, your soundcard
driver and, if needed your video driver.

It should run good, but it depends alot on your video card as well... I
run an old trident VLB 1 meg SVGA card on a 486dx2-66 with 8 mb ram.   I
have found that it's MUCH better to boot off of a floppy with mimimal
memory to get the best look out of the game.  I get about 25 fps running
21 cars.

Hi Jeff,

I was thinking of upgrading my DX33 to a 100 soon. What sort of graphics card are you running
to get this seemingly amazing performance (people have trouble running SVGA on a P100). I am
running a Hercules Stingray Pro VL graphics card
