If anyone is running NASCAR on a 486/66.  Please let me know your setup.
Everything I have tried is very jerky.  Help please.

Bud:
I've got everything turned off but the car and wall textures.  It's
_still_ jerky but tolerable...

I run car textures, skid marks/paint, smoke/dirt, 38 car fields, 8 cars in
front, 4 in rear, 4 heard, and almost everything else on auto, but with
the minimum frame rate at 30fps, and it runs really very smoothly, with
only a slight slow down in the big crashes.  I found that the one detail
that you will gain the most from turning off, is the track texture.  By
the way, my system is a dx2/66, with 8 megs of ram, and a cheap 1 meg vram
trident video card. --

I've been trying to obtain the INDYCAR 94 paint jobs by ftp from
didnt.doit.wisc.edu.  Unfortunately, when I try to unzip them
(with PKUnZip 2.04g) the files are corrupt.

Are these available somewhere else?

Thanks in advance,

John

Just last night I came across a great discovery in speeding up NASCAR.
Set up your sound card as MONO.  Yeah, you slightly lose some effects,
but it beats running in FM mode.  It made a big difference in my frame
rates to run mono with 1 heard.  Still sounds great, but chews up a lot
less CPU.
