Current Nascar Sims

I used to play Nascar 2 alot and raced a bit on-line but when Nascar 3 was
released without the GPL physics I lost interest and picked up the real
GPL.  I have not had much time in the last year to race much but now
things have settled down a little and I have been watching the action from
Daytona this week and getting the urge to go Nascar racing again.

So now my question...what is the current Nascar game that has realistic
physics (something like GPL), has a good online play, and will run on my
system (see specs below)?  I found a couple online but am concerned about
my system acutally running them with acceptable performance (the last
couple games I have bought did not work very well even though I met the
minimum system requirements).

System Specs:
Pentium II 450 MHz
512 mb RAM
Voodoo 5 graphics
SBLive Value

Thanks for any and all advice, Cliff

Will it run on a P2 450 with a Voodoo 5 graphics card?  The review I
found said P3 mimimum.

Cliff,

I would think N3 is about all you could run and get decent framerates on a
PII.

You would probably have to turn off so many graphic extras in N4 that it
just wouldn't be worth it.

I ran N4 with a Piii 500 and A V5.  But I had to turn off just about all
the graphics.  If you like square tires in the replays and tracks floating
in space, then N4 is do-able.  But with your system, it will be working very
very hard to keep up with n2002, or N4 which are the two titles that have
been built from the GPL engine.
2nd suggestion would be Nascar Heat.  It does not have the full-on physics
of N4 but is definately better than N3.  And it is mod-able....there are DTM
touring cars, Cart Champcars, Dirt trackers, Can-Am, Trans Am even boat mods
that are coming out.  And Nascar Heat is much less taxing on the system.
You should be able to get about half the graphics running with your system
and that will look and feel much better than N4 stripped of everything.

The Celeron 900 to 1.1G chips are going for $50 to $70 and may pop right
into your computer. Check it out. Then you won't have problems with Nascar 4
or 2002 running.
Just a thought.
