GPL & Win2k problem

by Dan » Thu, 27 Dec 2001 12:56:13

Okay, I've been looking for a good game to keep myself sharp in the
autocross off-season, and GPL with a FF wheel was recommended, so here I am.

When installing GPL I get an error message:
"ActiveMovie Setup:
The version of ActiveMovie that you are trying to install is older than the
one already present on your system.
ActiveMovie Setup cannot upgrade an existing installation if the version is
newer or the language is different.  Please uninstall your existing
ActiveMovie and then run setup again."

The PC is a PII 450, Win2k, Voodoo 3 3000, SP Live!, 256Mb ram.  Newest
drivers and DirectX, yadda, yadda.

When I attempt to run the game, it begins to load (shows the 3DFX splash
screen and the GPL splash page) and then goes to what I guess is a very
garbled main menu page.  It then becomes unresponsive.

I can't figure out how to uninstall ActiveMovie.  I have looked in the
"Add/Remove" programs menu, but there's nothing there by that name.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game many times and keep getting the
same error.  I have also installed the 1.2 patch from your website.  I have
made sure that I have the latest sound, video, and DirectX drivers.

Please give me some hints on how to proceed, because I need a good game to
play in the autocross off-season!

TIA,

Dan.
