Any further luck on Win2k and GPL?

by Michael Lent » Fri, 25 Feb 2000 04:00:00

I've tried every combination I can think of at this point, but still get
kicked back to the desktop right after seeing the splash screen. I've tried
both software and 3dfx, with and without patches. All drivers are default
Win2k with the exception of the latest NT4 reference drivers for the
Voodoo2. N3 runs perfectly fine. I did have to connect the TSW2 to the
soundcard gameport since their seems to be no workaround for the PDPI L4 at
this point.

Abit BP6 dual Celeron 466
Asus V3400TNT
M3D Voodoo2 SLI
MX300

Damn the bad luck!

I have Voodoo3 card and i use 3dfx retail W2K drivers and a patch
 http://www.the-fastlane.com/patches/glide2x.zip ) and GPL runs OK. I can't
see an improvement in fps ( 36 fps in Win98 and W2K ) but i just like the
idea that GPL can use both processors. Still waiting for force feedback
support from Logitech.

The Logitech drivers shipped with Win2k already have Force Feedback
support. The problem is that it isn't working with GPL :(

Logitech are investigating the problem right now to determine if it is
their drivers or GPL which is at fault.

Using 3dfx's Feb.18 drivers and all I get is a black screen when
trying to load GPL.  Haven't tried N3.  Using OpenGL (noticed you have
a v3400) is no problem, and on a dual proc system results in ~8fps at
race starts.  I used v2.88 Nvidia drivers on my TNT, but since have
switched to a Voodoo3/2000 for Papy sims.
