New GPL problem

Lately, I've been getting a stuttering problem.  It only occurs when
someone enters or leaves an online race, and this message is displayed in
chat.

Real annoying.  Never had the problem before, and my pc is more than
enough for GPL :)  Any ideas ?

Happened to me (98SE) when I had changed the font size. Changed it back and
the stutters were gone.

Which font size are you talking about?  The chat font in the game, or
Windows font?  If the latter, do you have it set for Large or Small font
mode?

Thanks.
