F1RS: Suzuka Accurate?

Well I just finished running there a little. I just cannot see anything
that bad with the track to get e***d about. Again as with Hungary
the elevations appear to be there, it just may not be enough for
some people. Oh well...

Hi Greg. The main problem with Suzuka in F1RS is the first section of the
track, where you turn right, left, right, left, right, and finally left! There
are hardly any elevation changes in this section but in real life there
are, especially the last long left. In real life that is going straight
uphill. But I take the same outlook as you do; these small differences
from reality have no effect on my enjoyment of the sim.

Yes I think these elevation changes are slight, but there. In GP2 the
changes
where much more apparent. I guess I will have to wait for Suzuka to check
the
incar camera. Or maybe I can dig up an old tape (if I haven't erased it).

Where else but r.a.s., can we beat an old horse to death?  And since we
are talking F1, I guess this would be the "prancing horse" ;-)  Anway,
yeah, GP2 had elevation changes.  However, I never really felt they were
there other than looks.  It never really seemd that more effort was
needed to climb a grade.  It appeared that one was going up (or down) a
grade visually, but I never really "felt" that the car acted as if it
was going up or down a grade.

I agree about GP2, much different feel in F1RS IMHO...

Why doesn't that surprise me... ;-)

<g>

They did have an effect in the corners (*that* chicane at Estoril,
Adelaide hairpin at Magny-Cours, Hobbs at TI Aida, etc). I always thought
that uphill corners were supposed to reduce oversteer, not increase it
though :(

Cheers,
Richard

If you say so it is OK with me. I guess I don't know Suzuka that
well, even though I have watched all the GPs there since 87 or
so. Sennas come from behind win there was the best race I've
seen IMHO.

Ridiculous? Huh.

Yes, this ruined my first impression of F1RS.  I jumped in at Suzuka, which I
knew best from GP2 and thought, whoa, what's going on here?  I did notice later
that there are slight elevation changes but they still seem too slight to me.
Other coures seem to be too flat, but others are good.

Well, put it this way. The Japs are up in arms about Suzuka! It's
sure as hell a lot different to GP2!

Greg, you're just being ridiculous now, either that or showing how
little you know about Suzuka.

It is ridiculously understated as regards elevation, and I know the
track extremely well both in sims and real life.

Cheers!

You've actually driven the circuit, John, or just been there as a
spectator?

Yep. Maybe I think you guys are getting ridiculous now.
