Aaron,

Actually, I *did* try downloading and installing the vers. 1.09 patch.  
No luck.  Any other thoughts?

Well, I bought the "close out" version of F1RS yesterday (for $9.95).  
Installed it today, but the darn thing just goes to a gray screen after
the 3DFX logo appears.  I've got 200 mhz Dell; Matrox Millenium + Diamond
Monster 3D II 12MB, Glide 2.53.  Everything seems in order on the
hardware side but maybe not.

Any ideas?

Well it runs on my Voodoo2 just fine. Make sure you have Glide.dll
and sst1int.dll in your Windows directory. Also run the setup program
and go to the system tests to see if you have your 3dfx card available.
Then try reinstalling the video drivers and DX6.

Have you tried patching it to the latest version. I know there was problems
with the 3d with the first version. I would make sure the game is current and
go from there. Good Luck

I'm wondering, I bought F1RS about a month or so ago, and I am wondering if
there is a patch to show the car damage on saved instant replays?  I wanna see
my car get shattered after it did three barrell rolls into the first chicane at
Hockenheim (damn tire touching accidents always flip you over!)
