F1RS won't run- Help!

I need help.
I just installed F1RS and I get a crash right after the two intro
screens. The crash involves WAVx2BVR. I have changed this in Snd .ini
file. I changed it to WAVPWVBR. Now the game starts, but the sound and
graphics are very choppy.  The game is unplayable like this. Has anyone
had this happen? Is there a way to fix this?

My system:
PII 400
128 RAM
Canopus Pure 3DFX
Turtle Beach sound card
28x CDROM
11.5 MB Hard drive

Any help would be appreciated. E-mail if possible as my ISP does not
download all messages from the newsgroups and may miss a response.

I hope this helps -- it worked for me (I'm running the Ensoniq Audio PCI
sound card).
