Is this normal? I got it from buy.com and i can jiggle the wheel and its
shaft around. I didnt think this would hapen with a new wheel, but it's not
a huge problem

It's normal I guess.
The wheel needs a little space to move to create all those forces...

Not always. It is said the shaft needs a little bit of space to cope withe
the FF, but in some cases they have built the wheels with too much of it. I
would say this: If you notice it right form day one when taking it out of
the box and when you turn the wheel it sometimes feels notchy and sticky,
than return the wheel at once. Why ? You've got a good chance of getting
more of it the next couple of months without using the wheel like a mad man.
That's my experience. I've taken it back to the store and that was four
weeks ago....still nothing.

I think a little slop up/down side-to-side is "normal".  If the wheel moves
in/out on the shaft, the nut holding the wheel on to the shaft may be too
loose.  You can tighten it by remove the center cap on the wheel.

I have converted my unit to use ball bearings:

After the conversion there is no slop or stiction.  Very smooth now.

Jens Shumi was trying to put together conversion kits, haven't heard if they
are available yet.  You can check it out here:

I got mine on the cheap over here from a store that was sent one by mistake
and there isn't any 'jiggle' on it at all. In fact it has less play in it
than any other wheel I have had before. Not sure whether this is normal
though... certainly is an excellent piece of kit though.

I just came back from holiday, so no progress the last 4 weeks.

Actually I just want to start to redesign the conversion kit for less
modifications. Still need a wheel to perform, since I don't want to buy a second
one. Preferred donators are from Malaysia/Singapore. The candidate can testdrive
my wheel before deciding.

See you

Jens

BTW carefully with tightening the nut, since the circuit board could get
damaged.
