LWFF wheel getting progressively loose

by captri.. » Tue, 30 Jan 2001 22:23:54

Hello.  Maybe someone has a suggestion here that does not require major
surgery on my LWFF wheel (original model).  The main shaft seems to be
getting progressively more loose - it has movement "up/down" - not the
typical wiggle when the wheel is loose.  I have already tightened the
main bolt under the wheel's center cap.  That did not cure the
problem.  I would maybe be interested in one of Jan's ball bearing kits
(if that would fix it) or some other solution that would make the wheel
more durable.  Im in Atlanta, Ga. (USA) I was wondering if anyone has
ordered the ball bearing kits from the USA and how it worked out?
Other ideas?

LWFF wheel getting progressively loose

Hi,
Is the play axial (in the shaft direction)?
If so, something broke inside.
If the play is lateral, something is worn out heavily.

For getting feedback about the BB-coversion, check out either the
feedback-section on the b.m. webpage or post your question in the LWFF-forum.

BTW: Whatever play you have in your wheel, the conversion will fix it.
