56K PNP Modems and NASCAR2?

by Indy » Mon, 01 Sep 1997 04:00:00

Just got my new computer and have been trying to hook up with my friend for
some modem racing.  When I switch to MS- DOS mode and begin configuring the
modem setup in Multiplayer, the game doesn't show com2 (where my modem is
located per modem info in Control Panel of Win95).  The Computer company
Tech support was baffled by the problem and said there was nothing that
could be done.   Any ideas?  Thanks in advance for your help.

If it's a "WinModem" then I don't think it will work in DOS.  Regular
plag and play modems should work when exiting from windows to the DOS
prompt.  But if your in a TRUE DOS mode, the plug and play must have
some plug and play driver to set it up.  If the modem has the capability
of using jumpers to set the com/irq, I would advise using that.  Hope
this helps.
