Unofficial Wingman Support for Formula Force Playstation Wheel on a PC

by elrik » Fri, 28 Jun 2002 13:45:58

I see where the new beta Wingman software has some built in unofficial
support for the Playstation 2 version of the Formula Force wheel when used
on a PC.

Being wheel chair bound and unable to use my legs for driving I have been
using a Thrustmaster Modena 360 Wheel because it has two analog paddles for
acceleration and braking as well as two paddle switches for F1 style
shifting.

However I am on my third replacement wheel.  None have made it past 2 1/2
weeks without one or both of the analog paddles breaking something in the
return spring mechanism.  Not a happy camper.

Could someone who is using the Logitech Playstation 2 FF wheel on a PC let
me know what functionality has been added to the new Logitech Setup program
?

Specifically can one;
   1) use split axis
   2) program the various buttons on the wheel
   3) adjust the FF effects.

It is currently the only other wheel I know of that  has analog paddles and
connects via USB.

PS Any other advice on alternative solutions are welcome.

( I can live without ff effects and wouldn't mind if I had to drive an
automatic.  So at a minimum it would have to have the 2 analog paddles and
be reasonably sturdy.  Oh!  And drivers that would work in Win XP Pro)

I purchase my wheel for the PS2 and works well on the PC as it is just a PC
wheel
with a GT3 sticker. you may need the latest Winman software.

Yes the "unofficial" support includes all those things, just the same as the
PC wheel features

Thank you very much for the info.

You just made my day (week, month, whatever)

Now if it will only last a bit longer . . .
