Video Card Problem

by oti.. » Fri, 24 Sep 1999 04:00:00

Purchased a VooDoo3 3000 in anticipation of playing N3.  Prior to that
I was running N3 under my Rendition card with the updated drivers.
Followed the instructions and installed the VooDoo card.  Win98 starts
crashing and locking up.  Figured, what the hell, reinstall Win98.
Formated the harddrive.  Start installing Win98 and THAT crashes.
Removed the VooDoo, replaced it the the Rendition, Win98 installs fine,
no more crashes.

Is it possible to have a bad video card?  Or, is my hardware (AMD K2
300 with 64 meg) uncompatible with this card?

Is your 3000 an AGP?  Make sure it's seated securely in the slot.  I called
3DFX Tech Support yesterday because my AGP 3000 wasn't giving me ANY display.
In the course of the conversation, the card suddenly started working.  I had
never used any AGP card before, so I guess it took a couple times installing
and removing the card for it to make decent contact...<shrug>
