I probably didn't explain myself properly? What I meant was, the global
hype stuff ensures a spread of AI driver speeds, but the general
*spread* of AI speeds (not just one or two drivers) will go up as you
improve and your laptimes improve. The overall AI times, laptimes, speed
is based on a % of your own laptimes. IYSWIM?

The laptimes for the ai are not always the same, they vary and are
random, (but based within limits based on your laptimes) so you can vary
where you are in the field, eg: you will not always be in 10th place or
whatever.
Alison explains it far, far better than me in the help file that came
with one of the early GPL ai_tweak files (which is probably still
available from her website).
