GPL - AI is a little too fast.

When I start a race, this is (most often) what happens: the AI cars
disappears and I never see them again. IOW: currently, they are a
little too fast for me. For example, my personal best at Nurburgring
is 8:37,039 (yes, I know, not much to write home about); 20 sec behind
the AI cars. Frustrating :)

What I should like to do is to slow them down a little - say to 8:30,
8:40 or whatever time I want. Can this be done?

Yes.  I have file to do this.  I don't know where to find it. But I'll
email it to you if you'd like it.

GEM+ has an AI adjustment built in to it. This program is more than worth
it's weight in gold. In addition to the AI control, it also has a carset
manager, track database etc. It is also necessary in order to run the 65
mod.

Find the Driver.ini in your gpl folder and open it in notepad. Look for the
setting for each driver called 'hype' and reduce the value for some or all
the drivers to slow them down.

The AI speed is adaptive so that as you get faster so do they, if you set
the driver.ini to read-only it will stop this happening.

Google gpl driver.ini for stacks of tips.

Isn't that the player.sts file that needs to be read only ?

The AI Tweaker is what you need (you'll see me in the credits :) )

Where can it be downloaded now?

Marc

I have a copy if anyone needs it.
Let me know and I can either email it out as needed or pop it on my web site
for downloading.

Bruce.

Sorry guys. The reason I took so long to reply is that my computer got
sick, and I had to put it to sleep. Back online again.

The AI Tweaker was exactly the tool I have been looking for. Now, the
AI doesn't run off and leave me behind anymore, and they doesn't speed
up if I get a good lap. IOW: I can race them on equal terms.

Thank you all. You are such a kind and helpful bunch of people.

Hehe!

Yes, I'm new here, and a GPL newbe. I am a long time diehard Gran
Turismo player, but has never been known as a speed demon.
