I just saw this link at Tim Wheatley's site:

http://www.racesimcentral.net/~m.keizer/pics/

Looking goooood... check out the track map, this track is going to be
a blast!!
And it's being made by Martijn Keizer. Never heard of him, but now we
have another one who's able to make tracks. Now we can beg him also
for a banked Monza :)

SOLITUDE!!!! Great work so far!
I hope that it's far from finished because textures don't look that good
yet. (Oh boy I'm complaining again)
But I wonder how he developed it... Did he create his own track editor too?
Let's hope he makes it available for download...

The Solitude circuit was the subject of an article in a fairly recent
edition of MotorSport. If the chap doing the creative work does an accurate
job in replicating the sweeping bends and numerous corners this will be as
challenging to drive properly as the Nurburgring.

After viewing all the images, and then looking at the pix in the MotorSport
article, the first thing that struck was the fact that the width of the
track has been drawn much greater than in real life; it's almost the width
of a 4-lane highway!
Have a look at this shot and see if you feel the same:-

Can you put those article pictures online? Or can I find them on the web
somewhere?

Very cool looking, and at around 7 miles per lap it should be a workout. Hmm, I wonder if it will be possible to flip
over the guardrail and land in the water? <vbg>

I have a terrible memory. In fact it's so bad that I can't remember how long it's been since I've forgotten anything.

My first thought was, YAY, Solitude!  That was on my personal wish-list of
new tracks for GPL.

It looked much too wide on gplss11.jpg, but the road looked the right width
along the river... so I'm not making my mind up yet.  It might be the best
track ever for GPL if it's done well.  And yes, better than the 'Ring.

Nono Bruce, you don't understand! Martijn, the creator of the track,
is also testing the new GPLEA RC carset. <g>

The strange thing is, the track has the same width all along the track. So
all screenshots are with a trackwidth set to 11 metres. And I agree it
looks very wide on that screenshot, but I can assure you, you need all the
tarmac there is :-) Screenshots can do funny stuff, as can be concluded
from the fact that the width looks very different on the pics.
Gplss10 is taken at the same spot as Gplss11, and I'd rather suggest taking
the incar/f10 shots as guideline than the external camera's (with detial
settings, different carshapes etc). You think it looks too wide there as
well?

Ofcourse the main objective of making a track, is making something that
people enjoy racing on. So "fun" (playablity) is in some cases something
that has to be set against historical accuracy. No point making a track
that is soo difficult it's barely driven on VROC.

Thanks for your encouragement and critical notes, I'll take it into
consideration.
If you have more comments please express them (in a way that's
constructivly usable).

Hello,

I am living close to Stuttgart and I drove that road several times (not
under race conditions, of course). It is a real narrow 2-lane highway (maybe
8 to 11 meters wide) and today it is used as a normal highway to connect
Stuttgart and a little village called Leonberg. When I'm driving that
highway with my father, I have always to listen his old stories when he was
there at the Solitude with his motorbike watching the races on sundays. If
that track is done well, it will be one of the most challenging tracks for
GPL and it will be a real nightmare to overtake, because it is a REAL narrow
track. I can't wait to check out the track under race conditions.

Regards
    Gunther

Don't know about that... It's gpl you know, we like it realistic and
difficult...
