We just bought two Gateway 200MHz computers for the wife and son. Both
systems are identical with 64M memory, MACH64 video cards and 3COM 3C509
cards. When trying to run N2 the screen is shifted to the right and down
for 50% of the screen resolution rolling over to the opposite side of
the screen. It's also constantly flipping back and forth from the crazy
4-quadrant shifted mode to normal viewing whenever you move the mouse.
This makes it impossible to play, obviously. This happens on both of the
new computers with all four copies of N2 (we love network play).
I also have in my home office a Gateway 133Mhz system and a 166Mhz
system with the same peripherials as the new systems and N2 runs fine.
Can someone please explain why this could be happening on the 200s? Am I
missing something? We would really like to get the whole family on the
network at the same time.
Please respond to my e-mail address. I usually don't have time to keep
checking the news groups on a regular basis. Thanks.
