Driving the V8 at Philip Island, I find that when set to Simulation, the
feel is very arcade, grip is unrealistic,
car feels far too forgiving.
When Set to Pro, I found the car is virtually undrivable.
brakes tend to lock very easily, and the car looses grip far too easily.
Just wondering if any of you guys have fixed this by car setup?
Can you give me your opinions on this Sim / Game?

What are you expecting from a console arcade racer ported to the PC?

Codemasters have never produced anything even remotely resembling a
simulation so if you are expecting Papyrus grade physics you will be
sorely disappointed.

If you're using a wheel, set the controller selection to "Pad" rather
than "Wheel," and see if things get more driveable in Pro-Sim mode.
This has helped a LOT of other people. Check the Blackhole Motorsports
"Files" area for lots of downloads, utilities, and such . . . quite a
few things for the demos, too.  The "Active***pit Camera" ("ACC")
utility is a must-have, IMO.

this game is more for the console gamer with no driving skills. But the
graphics are nice.

Yeah, you're probably right about this -- which is probably why I'm
really enjoying RD2 right now.

Yes but you liked Ford Racing too, you're 'special' remember ;)
Seriously, plonking someone for having an opinion?

I ONLY "liked" Ford Racing in passing -- I still think there might
have been decent physics therein, and the tracks WERE glorious to
behold, but they really bungled two critical areas:  Sounds and
controls.

;-)

The "plonk" might have been a little over-the-top, but as a fairly
serious sim racer who happens to enjoy RD2, the "opinion" felt a
little offensive.  And, in this case, I don't think I'm all that
"special" -- there are lots of other serious sim folks over on the
RaceSim Central forums who are enjoying RD2 as well.

Ah, what the heck heck -- I admit it . . . I AM "special."

:-D
