One word for me, diabolical.
5 fps on an xp1700 with a 64mb video card. I was unable to calibrate my Momo
correctly. Looks very arcady to me but it was hard to tell with a slide
show.

Oddly my Athlon 1.4 performed ok. Just I couldn't get my pedals to work
(different controllers for pedals than wheel) and the handling felt _very_
arcadish.

Well unimpressed :-(

Also tried the demo on a P4  1,7 ghz  geforce 2 mx 400.

Graphics look a little bit dark but ok, framerate is very slow, unplayable.
The handling of the car is the worst i have ever tried in a racing game.
Damage model seems to be nice.

I liked all the other codemaster racing games and i am convinced they will
improve the
game drastically before they release it.

I can not understand why they released this demo. That was a big mistake.

I get a decent framerate here. I got Duron 800, with GF2mx 32MB
I have my graphical-settings at maximum.
Btw, ive heard that if you set your sound to off, the framerate improves a
lot.

maybe the old SB Live bug ?.

They do say on the intro screen that it represents the game at only 60%
completion. Low speed handling was poor. FPS were fine whien no AI were in
sight but quickly became a slideshow when they appeared. Damage model looks
really good.

On the grid my framerate was something near 4 or 5 fps. But as soon the
other cars were gone, the framerate was ok again. 1280x1024x32. Defenetly
something wrong with the 3D engine.
Gfx looked ok, nice textures, fine detail on the cars, but the car was way
to shiny. Nice damage though ;)
Couldnt get my Digital Edge pedals to work (3axis-4button).
Physics, cant tell because I had to use the keyboard instead.

Physics are a little cheesy.  Damage is cool, I got the hatch flapping
around at one point.  Sound is unimpressive.  FPS is totally unacceptable
(PIII 933, Radeon 7500) when opponents are in the frame.  LWFF worked OK, no
FF though.

Overall, not bad considering the stage of development.  I see potiential.

Err, I would like to politely remind you guys that you can't make much
of a judgement on the physics if your frame rate is crap.  Before I
fooled around with the graphics, with the default "slide show" frame
rate, there was a pronounced control lag that of course made the
handling seem all wrong.  Then I turned the graphics slider all the way
to the "speed" side and ran at 1024x768x16.  This gave me a decent frame
rate for the most part, except for when the AI was trying to figure out
how to ram me... oops I mean how to pass me.  That's on a Celeron
running at 950, with a 32 meg Radeon.  Once the frame rate was
acceptable, the physics felt about like the ALMS mod for F1 2001, which
is to say - a little too grippy, but not bad otherwise.  I really think
this game has a lot of promise.  It's a *** that the demo won't store
your controller settings, but when I looked through the game's
subdirectories it looked like you could hack together an .ini file with
the correct settings for your controller and make them stick.  No time
to try that tonight, but maybe later this week.

I'm very surprised by your results particularly since you have a much more
capable system.

I'm running an AMD 1600+/512MB Ram/GF3Ti500.  I'm playing the demo at
1280x1024x32.  I set details to middle which is the center of set-up slider.
Graphics were very nice, however, that blue windshield is total crap.  Once
I crashed and destroyed the windshield, things looked much better so this
may be my first racing tactic. ;0)

Using FRAPS I was getting 15-20 on the grid, average fps mid-20's and max
was 45.  It was only choppy near the s/f line (12-17 fps) but otherwise it
was reasonable smooth for this stage of development (assuming MUCH
optimizing will happen for 20 AI cars to be running in this game).

To the physics skeptics, at over 30 fps the physics was fine.  It's no worse
than the F1 2001 ALMS mod (which I think is excellent other than the grippy
tires) and it certainly is less forgiving under braking (the wheels lock and
the car is tough to control).  The controls were twitchy using my MOMO so
I'm hoping for a better "feel" from a later build.  FF was fair at this
point but there's plenty of time for that to be improved (it feels like it's
on the right track so I was encouraged).  This was not an arcade experience
for me.

Overall, this game has great potential IF they can give me 35 fps with 20 AI
cars and mid-graphics.

My observations on the physics were at a time when there were no other cars
on the screen... at that point the frame rate was reasonable.

Pleasantly surprised, actually.

System: XP2000+, 512MB DDR, GF3 Ti200 (28.32 Creative drivers), Win98se +
DX8.1a.

Tried it at 1024x768x32 and "primary sound driver" (would directsound be
faster in theory?) with number of voices reduced to 24. Detail slider at
centre.

Mouse control doesn't work in the "menu", but I was able to configure my
MOMO via the options section (left all other things alone) and reduced FF to
about 70%. Too bad it doesn't stick. It's important one should go into the
advanced menu and adjust range and deadzone for each control axis (max
range, min DZ).

I only got a noticable drop in framerate exiting the Bianchi turn (onto
"back straight") where one gets the sun glare and the shiny asphalt (neat
effect).

Driving feel and FF is pretty good. Controls are a bit twitchy in***pit
view (and the windshield is all but opaque), but hoodcam works surprisingly
well IMO.

Sound is functional and the graphics are nice. Track accuracy (Zolder) is
not bad but scenery and trackside objects still need some work. AI is pretty
shabby and I can't help but detect a hint of a catch-up system.

Ok, let's hope 100% finished will turn out to be a nice game rather than a
further arcadified version of this demo. Let's also hope 100% finished means
usable***pit view. TOCA Race Driver is very unlikely to represent the next
level in simracing from a simulation point of view, but the career option
is, in theory, a nice twist in the tale. Combined with a passable driving
model (as evidenced in the demo) Codemaster might be onto something here.

I got pretty good framerates by setting the reflection slider to min.
handling is certainly in the playground department, but I say it looks
like it will be good fun.
