N2 Sound problems

by Vince Toplos » Sun, 18 Jan 1998 04:00:00

I just recently purchsed N2.  Installation went smoothly and the
introduction plays and sounds fine.  However,  when the main menu
comes on the sound is no more.  Same thing for the racing.  I've
passed the wave and midi tests during installation.  I have GP2 and it
runs fine so I know this isn't just a DOS problem.

I have a Pentium II,  266MHz w/ 32 MB RAM.  My sound card is a Yamaha
OPL4 32 sound card.  I have tried playing with the sound setups but to
no avail.

Are there any experts out there that can help me.  I have researched
N2 for a while and was really looking forward to playing it.  This
really bites!!!

Thanks in advance,

Vince

I am not familiar with this soundcard, but the opening
movie/introduction defaults to a standard SoundBlaster setup and is not
tied to N2's setup for your soundcard.  When you ran the N2 setup for
your soundcard was this in DOS or Win95?  Is your Win95 and DOS setup
for your soundcard identical?

I have the same card in my system, when I tried to have the game set the
sound, it kept*** and I had to reset the system.  I suggest finding out
what your IRQ and DMA settings are (through control panel??) and then
setting the game sound card yourself.  When I called SOL Tech Support, they
suggested I set my sound (in the sound set-up utility) to Soundblaster MONO
220 5 1.  Don't know if this will help you but it fixed me up right away.
