This is going to sound lame but--- what chipset is the STB128 nVidia based on
rendition, 3dfx, or what have ya?

The STB Velocity 128 uses a Riva 128 chip by nVidia...  It primarily functions as
a Direct3D accelerator, although some rather lame alpha GL drivers have been
released.  You're definately going to want to grab a 3dfx card to go with it - a
Pure 3D or a Monster would be good.
