MS CART & STB Velocity 128 (AGP)

When I play MS CART full screen with hardware acceleration on my STB
Velocity 128 (AGP) the screen starts to flicker. When I play in a window (or
full screen but with the menu bar) everything is ok but the harware
acceleration does not seem to be used. I have the new drivers
(4.10.01.0119).

Without hardware acceleration I get 17 fps and 35 fps with hardware
acceleration, however the screen is flickering.

Does anyone experienced the same problem???

Thank you!

I have the same card and the same problem. To solve it, I used the CNRL F and
CNTL H keys in the in-game screen to change the distance that the textures are
drwn in. When I set it all the way to max distance at 31 the problem completely
goes away! Let me know if this helps. I have heard of others having the same
problems.

I have a Viper 330 which is based on the same chipset (nVidia 128).  I, too,
suffered from flicker until Diamond released their latest drivers last week.
The flicker is gone and I can get frame rates in the 30's with no opponents.
Also, FS98 is fun because acceleration turned on in a window with the Viper
(and probably your Velocity 128).

Check STB's website and email their support team.  Ask for them to fix their
video driver.  Chances are they are already aware and working on an updated
video driver.

Paul, I have the viper as well but get only about 25 fps with no
opponents. I have the latest drivers from Diamond and an AMD-K6/233 with
64 meg 60ns edo ram. I was about ready to give up on the Viper because I
don't consider the 5 fps difference between my Intergraph Intense 3d to
be worth $200. How does your rig compare to mine? Do you think there
might be something in my setup that is limiting my Vipers performance?
Also, what graphics options are on in CPR when you get this 30fps?

Any info would help,

Mike

I have heard of some people curing this by editing the CART.INI file and
setting the sync-refresh line to true.
For more information head over to The APEX http://cart.gamestats.com

Thanks

I'm running it with a Diamond Viper 330 in Full Screen and I am NOT seeing
any flicker at all.

What machine and what frame rate?  I'm running the STB Velocity 128
with CART and it seems that the flickering corresponds to frame rates
about 30.  Just seemed to notice that I could get 30-45 fps (the
radically high 40+ fps came on an empty track running zoomed replay
mode w/ external blimp view).  The more the frame rate was above 30,
the more ridiculous the flicker problem got.  It seemed almost like if
I could do enough in the way of graphics options to keep the frame
rate at or under 30 fps, the flicker was minimized.  Its also worse at
tracks like Laguna Seca than flat tracks.  As you're exiting the pit
at Laguna Seca you'll see the flicker problem immediately.

I know it seems Diamond corrected it (because they already had that
problem). But STB is still searching (I hope) for the problem.

Bye!
