Need a little help here. Replaced my old G-force 2pro 32mb with G-force 4mx
64mb. Got rid of all the old drivers. Installed without a hitch.Using newest
detonator drivers. The problem is my fps is about the same(N2002).  Is this
right? I figured newer card with twice as much ram would be a little faster
at least.

Also in open gl there is only 32bit no 16.(N2002)
This was the case with my G-force2 also.  Any ideas.

                                                    Thanks guys,
                                                                      Doug D

you sould have bought a Geforce 4 Ti 4200. This card is really fast. The MX
version is a slow one and it can be very right, that it will be slower as
the older GF 2 Pro. Read the technical datas and you find, that it is only
the number 4, written on the card, but it has to do nothing with the GF 4 Ti
chips.

You haven't really upgraded video card-wise.

To get the 16 bit option, you have to set your desktop resolution to 16 bit,
then you will have the 16 bit option.  Should help some in fps without a
noticeable difference in quality.

You basically bought a GF2 with more/faster memory.

GF4 TI series is based on the GF3 chip with faster memory.  In other words
full DX8 compatibility.

If ya have any chance at all to  return the GF4 MX then do it and grab a TI
4200.

I agree with Tim D here, going from a GF2 PRO to a GF4 MX isn't too much
of an upgrade unless you got the 460 version, the 440 would be slightly
faster than the GF2 PRO I guess and the 420 about the same

The GF4MX's are basically GF2's.  They are a bit faster but not by
much.  A GF3Ti would've been a better option.  RAM makes a difference
if you are running at higher resolutions and 32bit and AA.  But it's
pretty much limited by the MX's capabilities.  I mean you can strap a
gig of RAM on a GF2 and it wouldn't be any faster than say a 32meg
version.

If you can get your money back.  Get a GF3Ti.  In  my neck of the
woods it's only like $10 more than the GF4MX's.  And much faster.

Also SET your desktop to 16bit color.  That should help with the open gl
problem.

Get a GeForce 3 Ti200. They can be purchased for $80 or sometimes less.  You
can easily overclock them to the Ti500 specs.  This card works beautifully
for me.

Methinks you should return the GeForce 4 MX.  It is famous for providing
GeForce 2 speeds :(

I don't believe it has a true GeForce 4 core in it.

Return it for the Ti4200.  You will be a LOT better off.
