I was in a race last night where I led a guy named "wheel*" into the
inner loop just as we were catching a lapped car. As the three of us
transitioned from the inner loop to the outer loop, we went three wide
with the lapped car on the outside, me in the middle, and wheel on the
inside.
I thought wheel was pushing too hard given the nature of often quirky
online connection stability, and I let him edge me into the outer loop,
and I followed him nut-to-***through the turn and onto the back
straight. As we approached turn 10, I out-braked him and stuck the nose
of my car inside and took the position back. All of this happened
without scraping against each other.
Even though I started 3rd and finished 5th (someone spun me in the inner
loop on lap 2), it was one of the best races I'd ever experienced in
NR2K2. It's fun to do roadies when everyone has a slight clue as to how
to run on them.
Oh yeah, even though we were running fixed setups, there was a guy named
"Achim T" who did a 115mph qual lap - a full 2 mph faster than the 2nd
place car.
