Just wanted your conclusive opinions on TOCA2:

- how realistic is the physics model?

I find it the closest thing to driving in my own (real) car. The way the
cars reacts, etc. is spot on. The most realistic driving I ever did on a PC.
But that's my opinion... You really have to try it for yourself. Don't give
up too soon if you do, though: I played the demo and deleted it with
disgust. Until I read more positive posts about the game. So I tried it
again, and now I'm completely hooked!
It's a pity only that the way the game is setup, is very arcadish: you have
to get 15 points or you can't go on in a championship, tracks aren't
available for expert mode right away (you have to win easy and normal
first), and the AI is very weak: I won the expert champ the first time I
played the game! But that's worked on with the upcoming patch.

To me the physics model is realistic enough for my tastes.  I don't get the
sense of ardade-ness as some people mention.  The game looks arcade, but it
doesn't really draw away from anything in my opinion.  The bottom line is that
the demo is probably the funnest racing game/sim I've ever driven -- and I'm
using the keyboard.

As soon as my car does what the Audi in TOCA2 does going through a corner I'll
let
it check over at my car dealer... ;^)

If it was slot car sim it would be terrific. As for touring cars...I
just which my Prinera handled as well!

The racing is fun though. When they introduce the performance patch it
will be fantastic fun.

Have you tried running your Primera on slicks with the engine mounted
low and further back to change the weight distribution, an extra aero
package on there, much stiffer suspension and the back seats ripped out?
Might just change the handling a bit :-)  BTCC cars may _look_ like
road cars but there's a lot of modifications gone on.

I don't know about the "realism" of the handling in TOCA 2 - the
physics model has its inadequacies - the cars don't dig in with the
wheels and roll which they can (rarely) do in touring cars I believe.
However, to me (a keen BTCC fan) the TOCA races look like the TOCA
races I've seen IRL and on TV, the cars are nimble, turn on a sixpence
and are incredibly light at the rear end.  What's more impressive is
that the Fiesta's look like the Fiesta races I've seen (three to
a corner, wallowing like hell, totally underpowered, can wiggle from
side to side on the racing line and can spin out from a slight nudge -
presumably due to low moment of inertia), the FFords look like FFord
races I've seen (except for the collisions) - lots of trouble getting
the power down, wiggle and get wide all the time.

I'm not sure what people get at when they becmoan the TOCA 2 physics
models - AFAIK the cars in the game are cornering at approximately
the speeds they can in real life and spinning out or losing grip when
you exceed that.  Perhaps some people are assuming that because their
road car doesn't handle like that then it can't be realistic.

I reckon they're pretty much spot-on. I know a lot of people complain that
the car goes to jelly when you get on the grass, but, like, you're in a
car doing 100mph on grass in slicks. It will do.

I like the way it handles, can't complain with that, and the handling
seems to deteriorate well with tyre wear. Jumping on kerbs is nicely
possible, and collisions are great.

I'm happy :)

Apparently it is under restricted beta. About to go gold very soon I hope.
