ICR 2 anyone out there race at 100% full realism and win?

I'm interested to know if anyone out there races ICR2 on 100% distance with
damage set to realistic and win on those street circuits? Since I always seem
to lose a wheel at some stage, which can be really anoying to say the least.

Cheers...-David

Racing opposition at 100% with damage on is no easy task.  You can win, although it
is frustrating setting cars up in the begining to get enough consistent speed.  I've
found I'm much more competitive on certain tracks.  You'll find too, that some
tracks (eg. Aust.) the opposition blows away the track record at 100%.  The whole
field there broke the track record!!
Find some tracks that you are competitive on and practice them.  That will help with
your confidence and you might be able to take whatever you learn to make some other
tracks less painful.
Try LongBeach.  I find that an easy track to compete and win at.

I'd say stay away from those concrete barriers when damage is on realistic.
Try a race at Elkhart Lake with the realistic settings.  (In the words of Don
Cherry: "It's a Beauty!")

Still haven't gotten the win at 100% realistic damage.  I qualified
2nd at Cleveland though which I was thoroughly e***d about.  It was
nice to actually SEE the pace car on the pace lap....

Jip, did it a few times but only on arcade damage. I don't think i will be
able to do it on realistic setting. At Surfers Paradise, Australia you can
forget about doing well if you don't have pole or 2nd on the grid. You can
hold back a little at the start and wait for the cars to spread out a little
but it becomes to difficult to catch the leaders then.

GP2 would have to be unreal hot to beat this ;)

Cheers

I just completed my first 500 miler yesterday (at Mich.) and...  Boy am I
pumped!!  Of course it was arcade damage, but still - keeping the car under
you for 2 hours and 14 mins requires a great deal of concentration.

First, a lap ahead of everyone else.  (225.986mph on five pit stops.)

What were the opponents set at?

I've done 500 miles there 3 times. 1 win, 1 2nd and a 6th (all at 98%). Next time,
I'll try with arcade and 99 maybe...
All my ICR2 races are 100% distance.

100 % with a RELS of 97 in the michigan.txt.  I was using a drivers2.txt file
(the IICC3 file) where the best AI are much faster than using the default
file...  The only way to really gage speed is using the mph...

I'm having trouble getting through a 100% race without crashing the
computer.  At Oz, 2/3 throught the race, blammo.  Can anyone help me
or point me to a source of info about icr2 crashing?  I'm win'95, in
dos mode without mem managers.

Yep, that's a no no. :-) You should run IndyCar II without any memory
manager.

Wait a minute....

I am trying to run distance races (i.e. w/pit stops) and after pitting
under yellow I wind up getting put at the tail end of the lead lap.

Have noticed this at Australia and also, I believe, Mid-ohio.  What gives?

I should be able to blend into the line-up wherever I come out.  Is the
problem that everyone is screaming for a patch for?

Also, best time at Mid-O is 1:10.xxx, I assume that this can be improved.
How?

Yes -- YES -- YES -- Please Papyrus/Sierra, we spent our money for a
racing simulation.  Please release the patch for this.  And PLEASE don't
make us wait until you have polished and packaged the Win95/Mac version.
That is still months away.  Hey, I bought this simulation in November,
this is not good customer relations to keep us***.  This means we
will have to wait 7-8 months to fix something that should have been
fixed when we gave you are hard earned money.  Do the RIGHT THING, and
release the patch NOW!
