ICR2 Realism (Speed)

by Cyboma » Sun, 07 Jul 1996 04:00:00

I've just bought ICR2 and I've been racing around a bit.  I was
wondering if I should be able to beat the lap record at Milwaukee so
easily.  I used the QUALFAST setup and beat the Andretti lap by 3mph
on only my 20th lap around the thing.  I can't beat the road course
records (yet) but I come awfully close.  Should I be able to do this.
Why does it seem so easy to go fast?  Thanks for the comments.

>Dear Stu:  you must be beating the times because you are a racing god in the making, I would like you to email me so we can get you ready to be

our test driver.  I need to get rid of that other bloke for next season
since he wants to get paid more than 50,000L, unbelievable.  Look forward
to hearing from you, Frank.

It is more that likely tied to the fact the internally Papyrus
calculates the length of most of its tracks differently than the real
counterpart.

The Papyrus track lengths have some effect in speed calculations, but
there's also something wrong with the car or track physics model.

Milwaukee ICR2 record is currently 19.319 seconds (T. de Racovitza),
Paul Tracy got pole with second slower time (20.448) in 96.  Milwaukee
was repaved and it was about 10 mph slower last year.  ICR2 is based
on 1995 season, so the difference between real world and simulation
is is even larger, maybe 1.5 or 2 seconds.

It sure is...  Let me see a real Indy doing a 1:04:9xx on Laguna Seca!

So EASY?!?  How the HELL are you doing this?  I'm about 10-12 mph off most of
the ovals, and probably about 10-15 seconds off on the road courses.  I got so
pissed off at the program that I barely run it...and only for PRO96.

And YES, I put in practice laps.  Several tanks of gas, at several tracks,
with no noticable improvement. :(

NOT a happy camper...

1:04 ?!?
Geez, I can't even do a 1:15!
