ICR2: Sudden changes to Realism Options

by Mark Hann » Sun, 03 Aug 1997 04:00:00

Hi,

I have a strange problem.  I have ICR2 patched to version 1.02
and both original tracks and the converted NASCAR tracks.  I have
noticed now that I am starting to get funny behaviour with my
realism options settings.  One moment I am running with realistic
damage and the next moment the damage setting is changed to NONE.
I notice this when I slide into the wall and bounce off!! ie the
game seems to be changing the setting on its own.

Has anybody else seen this problem?

Rgds/Mark

I had this happen before also.  I thought I was daft...well, I am, but
that's another story.  =P

I only saw this during modem play, but since it's been over a year
since I've seen it, I can't remember if there was a solution, or if
it mattered on the version of the game.  I would assume that it's
a random event somewhere in the 1% range.

Cheers!

Hi Mark!

Yes, it's happened to me a number of times, the most recent of which was
this morning when I was practising for an IEC racing league race.  I
can't work out whether the change occurs whilst racing, or whether it's
only apparent when you return to the options menu.  At one point I
thought I had it 'sussed out': if you leave a race or test session when
the car is damaged, then the setting returns to none when you check the
menu or start another race or test session.  Now I'm not too sure, as I
haven't really been 'tracking' the bug.  The best advice seems to be to
check that the damage setting is set to the right level before starting
any new race or practice.  As I say, whether it changes as you are
racing, or after you exit, I'm not sure.

Cheers!

Yes.  I see it using the Rendition Ready version.  I never noticed it before,
but I didn't race much on my 486; it's not much fun to race in empty
grandstands at 10 frames/sec.

I have raced pretty much exclusively at Indy, and that's the only place I've
noticed it.  Were you also on a converted track?
