Driving with force feedback

Hello, my name is Andries and a few months ago I both F1RS and started
to drive
with my joystick, the f1rs was great but the steering sucks.

I read about a steering wheel that would give you the feeling of driving
a race car.
I followed the progress and the moment the FORCE FEEDBACK STEERING WHEEL

of Platinum sound was in the stores I went and bought it.

Let me tel everyone, the wheel gives a whole new dimension to the word
simulation.
It lets you steer an feel the force of a f1 race car. It acts and reacts
on the things that
happen in the game.
The wheel and especially the pedals are of super quality. The wheel can
be mounted
onto you desk.

Forget all the rest of steering wheel. it is the best

Andries.

Hi Andries,
I'm glad your happy with the new wheel.I can't decide between the
Performer and the Actlabs Force RS (or maybe wait for the Microsoft
one).Does anyone have any suggestions about this? When will USB force
feedback wheels arrive?

What effects do you get through the Force Feedback.

Jolts when hitting other cars?
Bumping kerbs?
Varying resistance from tyres from cold to hot?
Loading of steering from understeer?
Progressive "looseness" toward breakaway?

If you buy the ACT Labs Force RS wheel, you will be able to
upgrade it later with a USB cartridge.  The USB cartridge
is due to be available around Christmas time.  That's one
of the neat things about the ACT Labs RS wheels - you can
get different cartridges and use the same wheel with a
PC or with console systems.

Wow...

Ya give me a TSW/TSW2/ECCI/Hyperstimulator anytime instead of that ***
Per4mer wheel. Sorry but FF is not enough mature at this moment IMHO.  Sure
it's a start but not even enough for a 200$ worth wheel.

Oh and Im sorry but the Per4mer FF wheel's architecture is very badly done.
Cheap plastic part, not all the unit equal in quality, etc.. (a.k.a.
Thrustmaster in 10x worse).   I just wanted to mention you this.  Before
telling how great the actual FF wheels are, just think that this is just the
_start_ , and it's pretty madly done at the moment.  With time, 1000$ and +
wheels with FF will appear on the market, and you will understand the
difference between 200$ and 1000$ FF wheels ;)

What do people do when they can't afford $1000?
Maybe all they wanna spend is $200 in which case, this Per4mer wheel
does what it needs to do and fulfils his requirements.

If I wanted the ultimate wheel, I'd buy some Momo/Sparco/Speedline
Hyperstimulator with drink bottle, wings yadda yadda yadda, but the
costs are far too high, so I'm happy with my Gp1 for now.

Mine is worse, it's in Australian dollars.....

No, one of the neat things about the Force RS- the neatest thing is
that it's almost 6 months late, and nobody seems to know why....

My understanding is that the "why" part involves Atari, who
came out with a Force Feedback driving simulator for
arcades.  There were some licensing or patent issues
involved that have only recently been resolved.  They are
supposed to be shipping now, but I will check to see if
that is true or not.  Did you already pay for one or
something?

Paul, would you do us a favour and post your thoughts once you've had
it a while?  Thanks,
